In Montana, chiropractors are licensed by the Montana Board of Chiropractors, and their license designates them as “Chiropractic Physicians.” This designation allows chiropractors to serve as primary care providers and perform many of the same functions as medical doctors.
In addition to Chiropractors, there are four other healthcare professions that are licensed as physicians in Montana:
- Medical Doctors (MDs)
- Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs)
- Naturopathic Physicians (NDs)
- Podiatrists (DPMs)
Each of these professions is licensed by a different board or regulatory agency in Montana, and each has its own scope of practice and areas of expertise. While all of these professions are licensed as physicians in Montana, they have different levels of authority to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
